I thought I'd use my first entry as an opportunity to introduce myself, how I got into dentistry, and why I love what I do.I grew up in Walla Walla, and while attending
the local community college I worked as a machine operator at a sprinkler manufacturing plant. My wife, Sarah, and I had discussed different career options off and on, but with a wife, an 18-month-old son, a steady job, and a mortgage, I believed I was firmly established in sweet onion country (this was before the wine industry came to town).
When the agriculture industry began to struggle, the irrigation business took a hit and I was laid off. Suddenly I was less rooted
than I thought, and I had the opportunity to try something new.

We sold our house, packed up, and
headed to Utah, where Sarah and I both attended Brigham Young University.
I tried out several
different departments, including Accounting, Philosophy,Engineering and History, and finally settled on Plant Genetics with the intention of developing some really hot peppers for making great salsa. During my time there, I joined the pre-dental study club and decided to pursue dentistry as a career with salsa as a hobby. Sarah and I graduated together and moved to Seattle so I could attend dental school at the University of Washington. I graduated from dental school with three children (two boys and a girl) and was excited to launch my career as a Seattle dentist. My practice is in the Medical Dental Building in the heart of downtown Seattle, and I love the energy and variety of the city.
There are so many aspects of dentistry that I love. One of the benefits of my job is the great feeling I get when someone comes to me in pain and leaves happy and pain free. I am a problem solver by nature and find satisfaction in producing immediate results. I also enjoy the cosmetic aspects of dentistry. There is nothing like the look on a person's face when they see themselves with beautiful, straight teeth after a lifetime of embarrassment. I enjoy being able to establish ongoing relationships with each patient and devise treatment plans that are ideally suited to each individual. I love the challenge of keeping current with exciting developments in the field through continuing education courses. A couple of areas I have pursued continuing education in are laser cold sore treatment and invisalign braces.
My philosophy as a dentist is to provide the highest quality in treatment, and make sure that every one of my patients has a dental experience that is tailored to his/her needs and preferences. I am currently accepting new patients, so I hope you'll stop in and let us care for those pearly whites!
